How will providers onboard once it's live?
Via an NNS proposal — the same governance mechanism used for the existing Internet Computer Node Provider program. The Open Cloud website doesn't support this flow yet, which is why "Apply to become a provider" / "Provider handbook" links currently just redirect to sign-in. That's a launch-readiness gap, not a manual whitelist.
What infrastructure/virtualization is supported?
Nodes following the ICP node spec, deployed to AWS (GCP support likely coming soon). Self-managed Proxmox/KVM isn't currently a supported deployment type. In principle it may be possible — GuestOS is ultimately a Linux VM, and it already runs on AWS — but it isn't supported today and would likely take significant extra work.
Can multiple Virtual Instance nodes run on one physical host?
Yes, in principle — that works, though it hasn't specifically been validated on Proxmox.
What are the technical requirements for a node (e.g. Nano)?
No formal spec sheet is published yet. Only rough specs are visible in the product UI today (e.g. Nano nodes listed around 2 vCPU / 8 GiB RAM / 100 GB storage) — not a finalized provider requirements document.
Where's the node software, image, or provisioning API?
It's public: everything is in github.com/dfinity/ic. There's no separate provider installer/ISO or provisioning API beyond that repo.

How does provider remuneration work?
- Revenue is earned only when a node is actually selected and assigned to a Cloud Engine — not for listing idle capacity.
- No payment for keeping unused capacity available in the marketplace.
- Providers can't set their own monthly node price today; self-set pricing is planned for the future as the marketplace matures.
What about "Shared Hosting Engines"?
This isn't a currently defined Open Cloud product or feature, so there's no deployment doc, provider handbook, node images, listing process, or billing/payout flow for it.
This reflects a pre-launch, still-forming status — check back for updates as the provider program is finalized.
