Who can administer my engine?

Subnet administrators are the principals granted permission to perform restricted operations on your engine's subnet, such as upgrades and other administrative actions. You manage them from the Subnet Admins page.

How is this different from organization members?

Organization members (managed under People) belong to your organization. Subnet admins are different: access here is granted to IC principals, not to organization members. A principal can be a CLI identity, a canister, or any other Internet Computer principal. Someone does not need to be an organization member to be a subnet admin, and vice versa.

How do I get to the Subnet Admins page?

Open your engine from My Engines, then select Admins in the left navigation.

What does the admins list show?

The list shows each authorized principal and its current status:

• Active. The principal has administrator access now.
• Pending add. A change to add this principal has been submitted but not yet applied.
• Pending removal. A change to remove this principal has been submitted but not yet applied.

Your own principal is marked with a "You" badge.

How do I add an administrator?

Enter a principal ID in the Principal field and click Add administrator. A principal can be a CLI identity, a canister, or any valid IC principal.

Changes are batched: you can add and remove multiple principals before saving. Click Save changes to apply. Click Discard to abandon any unsaved changes.

How do I remove an administrator?

Find the principal in the list and click Remove. The entry moves to pending removal status. Click Save changes to apply, or Undo to reverse it before saving.

Are there any limits?

The engine owner is always an administrator and cannot be removed from this page. Updates are rate-limited to keep subnet registry changes stable, so frequent updates in a short window may be temporarily refused.

Only the engine owner can change administrators. If the page shows a read-only view, you are not the owner of this engine.
